Police Arrest Suspect For Unlawful Possession Of Firearm, Recover Locally Made Pistol

The Cross River State Police Command has arrested one Ukong Abraham “M”, aged 34 years, for unlawful possession of a firearm and related offences in Ikom Local Government Area of the State.

The arrest followed a report lodged on 15th April 2026 at about 1200hrs by one Delight Benjamin “F”, aged 22 years, who alleged that the suspect assaulted her, causing bodily harm. Acting promptly on the complaint, detectives from the Ikom Police Division mobilized to invite the suspect for questioning. However, upon sighting the police team, the suspect fled in an attempt to evade arrest.

Through a coordinated and intelligence-driven operation, the suspect was subsequently tracked and apprehended by police operatives. A search conducted during interrogation led to the recovery of a locally made pistol in his possession.

The suspect is currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of his activities and any possible links to other criminal acts.
