World kindness Week: Sen Gershom Bassey reiterates the value of kindness to the Vulnerable And Women

As part of his activities to mark the World Kindness Week, Sen Gershom Bassey, who is dedicated to promoting the protection of the vulnerable and women, has donated mattresses, Blankets and clothing to foster homes for the aged, motherless babies and physically challenged.

Presenting these items to the heads of various institutions and groups, Sen. Gershom Bassey ably represented by Dr Joseph Adim Bassey with Akparawa Joe Ben aka Solution Solution maintained that this act of kindness is deliberately and generously extended to the disadvantaged and vulnerable groups in our society. He said the sole purpose is to bring some measures of relief to these people.

Thanking the Senator, Evang Mrs Blessing Edet Esu (CON), the 100 years old owner of Blessed Hope Orphanage home, Goldie Street, said she was delighted and amazed that a Government official like Sen. Bassey came to add value to her motherless home. She said she has been running the home for over forty years without support from government.

Also speaking on behalf of the Society for youth development and rescue initiatives, 3 Beneth Street, Engr Emmanuel Onoyom-Ita lauded the kind gesture of the Senator who has come to support the motherless home. According to him, this was the first time in over Ten years of its existence that anyone in government has come to their aid. He urged other Government officials to emulate Sen. Gershom Bassey by supporting the home.

Other foster homes and groups that benefited were: Pope John Paul 11 Good Samaritan Home, Target; St Veronica’s Orphanage Home, Eto Mkpe YellowDuke, Akpabuyo. Women groups in Calabar South, Bakassi, Akamkpa, Cal. Municipality and Odukpani were reached women through their leaders. Women from Akpabuyo and Biase were reached through Loolo. Sen Gershom Bassey also met with women groups in the Hausa, Ibo and Yoruba communities through their various leaders.
