Special Envoy Amb Charles Omini calls for Calm amidst tension in South Africa & Ghana

The Special Envoy to West Africa for the International Human Rights Protection Service, Ambassador Charles Omini, has called for calm, unity, and diplomatic engagement following recent developments affecting Nigerians in South Africa.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja, Ambassador Omini disclosed that he has reached out to security authorities in both South Africa and Ghana over concerns about the safety of Nigerians in the region.

According to him, Ghanaian security agencies have provided assurances guaranteeing the safety and protection of Nigerians residing in the country.

He further cautioned South African authorities against any actions that may violate the rights of Nigerians living within their borders. Omini stressed that due process must be followed in any case involving the repatriation of Nigerians, in line with international laws and human rights standards.

The envoy concluded by urging African nations to embrace dialogue, mutual understanding, and stronger diplomatic ties, emphasizing that unity remains essential for the continent’s growth and stability.
