The Five-Day Media Convergence Is Over, but Its Impact Is Just Beginning

Written by Mary Bassey

The maiden edition of the 5-Day Information, Press/PR & Media Convergence has officially come to a successful close after bringing together students, media enthusiasts, and communication professionals from across Cross River State and several higher institutions in Nigeria.

Held in a hybrid format, the convergence attracted participants who joined both physically and virtually, creating an interactive platform for learning, networking, and professional development.

Throughout the five-day programme, participants engaged in insightful masterclasses, panel discussions, practical workshops, novelty games, and a meet-and-greet session designed to foster collaboration among aspiring media and public relations practitioners.

The event featured experienced speakers and facilitators who shared practical knowledge on journalism, public relations, digital media, and strategic communication. The sessions encouraged active participation, idea-sharing, and meaningful conversations on the evolving media landscape.

In her closing remarks, the Convener, Comr. Cynthia Maduekwe, expressed appreciation to all speakers, partners, volunteers, and participants for contributing to the success of the convergence. She urged attendees to take the knowledge and skills acquired back to their respective campuses and communities to inspire positive change.

She ended the event on a high note by announcing that preparations are already underway for Convergence 2.0, assuring participants that the next edition will be bigger, more impactful, and offer even greater opportunities for learning and networking.
