Former Kogi State Senator, Dino Melaye, has revealed how a simple investment he made as a 12-year-old helped him finance his education for several years.
Melaye made the disclosure during an interview with KAA Truths, published on Thursday, while reflecting on his upbringing, financial journey and investments in businesses and properties.
According to the former lawmaker, he bought a goat at the age of 12. The goat later reproduced, allowing him to sell its offspring and use the proceeds to pay his school fees.
He said the investment helped support his education through secondary school and also covered his fees during his first two years at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU).
> “At the age of 12, I bought a goat, and that goat gave birth, and I sold the offspring to pay my school fees in secondary school,” Melaye said.
He explained that the experience shaped his approach to money and investments, teaching him the value of starting with whatever resources are available and building gradually.
Melaye said his early experience with the goat investment remained an important lesson in financial discipline and consistent investment.
The former senator also spoke about his journey from a modest background to building investments in businesses and properties in Nigeria and other countries.
His account highlights how a relatively small investment made during childhood can become a source of financial support when managed patiently and consistently.
