During the tour, newsmen were shown several newly renovated and ongoing projects within the facility, alongside explanations on why some departments and sections of the hospital were named after notable contributors to healthcare development and support within the institution.

Speaking further during an interactive session with journalists at the hospital’s conference room, Prof. Ikpeme addressed concerns and public narratives regarding staff attitude toward patients and work ethics within the hospital.

According to him, attitude to work and human development remain continuous processes that require constant monitoring, correction, and improvement.

He explained that the hospital management has established internal mechanisms aimed at promoting professionalism and ensuring discipline among staff members through a reward and punishment system.

“Whenever staff perform excellently, their hard work is recognized and applauded. On the other hand, if any staff acts against ethical standards and civilized conduct, there are disciplinary procedures in place to determine the appropriate sanctions,” he stated.

He noted that the hospital has publicly displayed notices within its premises warning against the assault or maltreatment of patients, while also providing official contact channels through which members of the public can report complaints and seek redress when necessary.

Prof. Ikpeme reassured residents and patients that the hospital management remains actively involved in monitoring activities within the institution to promptly address issues requiring attention.

He emphasized that the administration understands that improvement in healthcare delivery is a continuous process and remains committed to enhancing standards across all departments of the hospital.
