Unical fee increments some days ago was a trend in unical, the unical management meet students between the hour of 11am to 6:45pm the students leaders of university of calabar, calabar including the SUG President and the school management engaged in a negotiation meeting at the counselling chamber in regards to the increments in the school charges.
The meeting started with an opening prayers after which an introduction was formally made by the SUG President after which we went into the business of the day.
The management went ahead to inform the students representatives on the reasons why the school had to bring in additional charges with major reason, falling back to the inflation of commodities and equally went ahead to explain the various charges.
At the end of it all the students representative went ahead to inform the management the consequences of the increments if it should be allowed as the inflation does not only affect the management of the school but the public in general.
In conclusion the students representatives through the SUG President presented a template of the fees the Nigerian students can afford.
In reaction to this the management scrutinize the fees template proposed by the students leaders and brought out a reviewed school template which was done by the management.
In the reviewed template the management had decided that in other to profound solutions to the pending issues, the management had decided to schedule the fees base on faculties/departments base on the facilities they need in their day to day runnings to avoid Nigerian students to pay for what they do not make use of and there by forsaking the proposal by the Nigerian students.
Unical management meet students regarding the school fee increase but the student leaders rejected the proposal as amounts involve was not favourable to students and as such demanded for more time for the student leaders to also scrutinize the new proposal and have one voice before commenting on it and as such demanded for an adjournment which the management proposed to be tomorrow be 13th Dec and students leaders insisted for more time which we proposed Thursday being 14th and was formally agreed by all.
