Why Obasanjo’s Son Has Joined ‘Tinubu Must Stay’

Written by Mary Bassey

Olujonwo Obasanjo, son of former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, has reportedly joined the Tinubu Movement for Sustainable Governance Foundation (TMS), popularly known as the “Tinubu Must Stay” movement.

His reported decision is linked to efforts to promote policy continuity and improve public understanding of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The movement supports the continuation of Tinubu’s policies and programmes, arguing that sustained implementation is important for achieving the administration’s stated development goals.

Olujonwo’s reported involvement is likely to attract attention because of his family background and his father’s status as a former Nigerian president. However, his decision should not automatically be interpreted as a reflection of Olusegun Obasanjo’s political position, as the two individuals may hold different views on national issues.

The development also comes amid growing political activities and discussions about the direction of Nigeria’s leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Further details about Olujonwo’s role in the foundation, including any official position or specific responsibilities, would help clarify the extent of his involvement in the movement.
