The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured residents that between eight and 10 major road projects currently under construction across the nation’s capital will be completed and commissioned before the end of 2026.
Wike gave the assurance on Monday while inspecting several ongoing infrastructure projects in the FCT, expressing satisfaction with the progress recorded by contractors on key road networks.
Among the projects inspected were the long-awaited Apo–Karshi road corridor and the Bwari–Kubwa road, both of which are expected to ease traffic congestion, improve connectivity, and boost economic activities in the affected communities upon completion.
According to the minister, the FCT Administration remains committed to fulfilling its infrastructure promises despite the country’s political activities, stressing that governance does not stop because of election preparations.
Responding to questions on whether the political calendar could slow down project execution, Wike dismissed such concerns, insisting that the administration would continue to work in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to deliver impactful projects for residents.
He noted that the Tinubu administration is focused on improving road infrastructure and ensuring that ongoing projects are completed on schedule to enhance transportation and support development across the Federal Capital Territory.
Wike reaffirmed that residents should expect the delivery and commissioning of between eight and 10 strategic road projects before the end of the year, describing infrastructure development as a key priority of the FCT Administration.
