Historic Joint Convention Brings Efik Eburutu Kingdom Together After a Decade of Division. In an extraordinary display of leadership and perseverance, His Eminence, 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗺 𝗘𝗸𝗽𝗼 𝗢𝗸𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶 𝗢𝘁𝘂 𝗩, The Obong of Calabar, has successfully united the Efik community in the United States of America after over a decade of bitter factionalism.

The historic occasion unfolded as the Efik National Association, Inc. USA (ENA) and The Efik National Association USA, Inc (EFIK, USA) came together in a joint convention in Houston, Texas, on 20th July 2023. The atmosphere was charged with immense joy and gratitude as esteemed members of the Efik Eburutu Kingdom celebrated the long-awaited reconciliation.
For years, the Efiks in America were divided, causing unfortunate repercussions for their beloved children. Despite well-meaning attempts at mediation, the path to reconciliation proved arduous. However, His Eminence\’s unwavering dedication to unity, perseverance, and commitment to cultural heritage played a pivotal role in overcoming these divisions.

The Obong\’s fatherly advice and persuasion, backed by his palace\’s efforts, paved the way for the first-ever joint convention. Through his leadership and vision, a new era of collaboration, harmony, and mutual understanding has been set in motion, ensuring a stronger and more united Efik community in America.

The Obong of Calabar\’s tireless efforts to unite \’Esien Efik Duopeba\’ have not gone unnoticed. His profound appreciation was extended to the Presidents of both associations, whose tireless efforts made the joint convention possible.
In his goodwill message, His Eminence called on all Efiks to embrace the convention as a testament to their resilience and spirit. He urged them to celebrate their shared heritage, honor their ancestors, and lay a solid foundation for future generations of Efiks in America.Despite some opposition in Nigeria to the unification of the Efik Eburutu Kingdom, the Obong remains hopeful that with time, the strength of their unity, love, mutual respect, and timeless cultural values will prevail.

The joint convention marks a significant milestone for Efiks worldwide and is yet another testament to the successful efforts at reuniting the Efik Eburutu Kingdom by His Eminence, 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗺 𝗘𝗸𝗽𝗼 𝗢𝗸𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶 𝗢𝘁𝘂 𝗩, The Obong of Calabar. Efiks all over the world celebrate this big victory, knowing that it lays the groundwork for a brighter and more prosperous future for their cherished community.
