The Special Assistant to the Governor on Assembly Liaison, Mr. Eric Azogor, has commended the exceptional leadership of the Speaker of the 10th Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, in the wake of the recent defection exercise that took place at the assembly.
Mr.Eric Azogor noted that this defection marks a historic event, as it is the first time in the state’s history that all opposition party members in the House have defected to the ruling party. With this development, the All Progressives Congress (APC) now holds the majority in the assembly, a shift that Mr. Eric attributes to the remarkable leadership and influence of the Speaker.
Members from opposition parties such as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party have crossed over to the APC, which, according to Mr. Eric, reflects the exemplary governance of His Excellency, Governor Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu.
The defection has further cemented Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem’s reputation as a visionary leader, and Mr. Eric urged party faithful across the state to follow this trend to ensure the continued delivery of good governance. He emphasized that this unprecedented event will go down in history as a testament to Speaker Ayambem’s leadership.
Mr. Eric expressed his appreciation to Governor Prince Bassey Otu for fostering an environment in which all members of the assembly can thrive and contribute to the “People First” agenda of the administration. He concluded by calling on Cross Riverians to align with the vision of His Excellency and use their positions to work towards the collective good of the state.
