Protest Erupts in Calabar Over Kidnap of Chief Omini Iso
Tensions are running high in Calabar following the alleged kidnapping of Chief Omini Iso, a prominent community leader at 8Miles called Esuk Otu. Members of his community have taken to the streets in a large-scale protest, accusing the Cross River State Government of involvement in the incident.
Eyewitnesses claim that the vehicles used in the abduction were official government vehicles belonging to the Cross River State administration. This revelation has sparked outrage, with protesters demanding immediate answers and the safe return of their leader.
The demonstrators, who gathered at Federal High Court, highway mutala Muhammad highway are calling for transparency and accountability. They insist that the government must investigate the matter thoroughly and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Placards and banners displayed during the protest carried messages such as “Bring back Chief Omini Iso” and “Stop denying his Kidnap, we Hold the Government Accountable.” The situation has raised concerns about the state of security and trust in the government within the region.
