Patrick Inah accused the Cross River State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Barr. Ijom Ukam, of allegedly mobilizing individuals to attack him during the political exercise.
According to Inah, the incident occurred after he attended activities related to the senatorial primaries held at Channel View in Calabar. He explained that he later proceeded to Hogis Royale, where election materials were reportedly being distributed to various wards for the conduct of the primaries.
He stated that after concluding his assignment alongside national representatives overseeing the process, he was returning to his vehicle when the alleged attack occurred.
Inah claimed that the Commissioner allegedly held him while several other individuals descended on him physically. He further alleged that over 50 persons, whom he described as cultists, participated in the attack, including a local government youth leader from Biase.
The media aide alleged that he was dragged and assaulted with the intention of causing him severe harm, but was eventually rescued following the intervention of security personnel and individuals present at the scene.
He further claimed that the incident left him seriously injured and that he was later referred for medical treatment at a hospital. According to him, some of his personal belongings, including his phone, money, and other materials, were allegedly taken during the attack.
Patrick Inah also disclosed that members of his family eventually came to his rescue and assisted in taking him to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Calling for urgent intervention, he appealed to the Cross River State Government and relevant authorities to investigate the incident and ensure justice is served.
