The University of Calabar Students’ Union Government (UNICAL SUG) has introduced a special welfare initiative aimed at supporting students throughout the ongoing examination period.
The programme, tagged Exams Support Week, is the first of its kind by the Students’ Union Government and is scheduled to run from Monday, July 27 to Friday, July 31, 2026.
The initiative is being coordinated by the Office of the Chief of Staff to the SUG President, led by Comrade Wisdom Abraham, in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties to the SUG President, Comrade Samuel Chukwumaobi.
It is also supported by UNICAL alumna and pioneer Engineering graduate, Cynthia Chinenye Maduekwe (CyanahPEN), a multiple award-winning “Most Informed” personality who previously served twice as Chief Press Secretary to the University’s first female SUG President and later to the Vice President.
As part of the programme, students will receive free shuttle transportation and food item distribution every day between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. at the UNICAL Shuttle Park. The intervention is expected to ease transportation challenges and reduce feeding costs for students sitting for examinations.
The initiative reflects the welfare-focused administration of the UNICAL SUG President, Senator Ebong Vordina Francis, whose leadership has continued to introduce programmes aimed at improving students’ welfare and promoting academic success.
Students have been encouraged to take advantage of the support while remaining focused on their examinations and maintaining a strong commitment to academic excellence.
The Students’ Union Government said the maiden Exams Support Week demonstrates its commitment to ensuring that students receive the encouragement and practical support needed to succeed during one of the most demanding periods of the academic session.
