The Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, has advised Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to stop using consultants to process their NAFDAC registration, warning that many business owners have fallen victim to fraud.
Adeyeye explained that NAFDAC works directly with applicants throughout the registration process and does not require businesses to hire third-party agents or consultants before obtaining a registration number.
She noted that several entrepreneurs have lost money to individuals posing as registration consultants, even though the agency has made its procedures accessible and transparent for all applicants.
According to the NAFDAC boss, the agency has deliberately kept registration fees affordable to encourage small businesses, boost local manufacturing, and improve compliance with food, drug, cosmetic, medical device, and packaged water safety standards.
She emphasized that NAFDAC is committed to supporting legitimate businesses rather than creating unnecessary obstacles, adding that the agency sees itself as a partner in Nigeria’s economic growth.
Adeyeye urged MSME operators to submit their applications through NAFDAC’s official channels and seek guidance directly from the agency whenever they need clarification, instead of relying on unauthorized intermediaries.
She reaffirmed NAFDAC’s commitment to protecting consumers while creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive through a fair, transparent, and efficient registration process.
