Calabar Fashion Week 2026 Pays Courtesy Visit to Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture

The President of Phronesis Fashion World and Convener of Calabar Fashion Week, Mr. Jude Attah, alongside media partner Calabargist, has paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Cross River State, Chief Amb. Obi Ayuk Afor.

The visit provided an opportunity to formally present the vision, plans and objectives of Calabar Fashion Week 2026, themed “Where Culture Meets Couture,” while exploring areas of collaboration and institutional support from the Ministry.

Focus on Culture, Tourism and International Participation

A major focus of the meeting was the participation of international designers and delegates expected from the United States and Cameroon, alongside Nigerian designers and other guests.

The delegation emphasized the importance of ensuring that international visitors are warmly received and given the opportunity to experience the rich cultural heritage, tourism attractions and hospitality of Cross River State.

The meeting was also attended by the Director of Tourism and Deputy Director of Tourism.

Commissioner Pledges Support for Calabar Fashion Week

The Honourable Commissioner, Chief Amb. Obi Ayuk Afor, expressed his commitment to working with his team at the Ministry to provide the necessary institutional support and collaboration for Calabar Fashion Week 2026 and future editions.

He also highlighted the importance of leveraging fashion, culture and the creative economy to strengthen Cross River State’s position as a leading tourism and cultural destination in Africa.

Ministry Remains Key Partner

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has remained a longstanding primary partner of Calabar Fashion Week since its inception.

The organizers expressed appreciation to the Commissioner and his team for the warm, constructive and collaborative engagement, noting that the partnership would help advance a shared vision of promoting Cross River State through fashion, culture, tourism and the creative economy.

With the 2026 edition, Calabar Fashion Week aims to bring these sectors together on one platform while showcasing Cross River State to local and international audiences.
