Reigning Miss Austria Lucia Sisic has died at the age of 22, leaving the pageant community and those who knew her mourning her sudden passing.
Mission Austria, the organisation responsible for the Miss Austria and Mister Austria competitions, confirmed Sisic’s death in a tribute shared on social media.
The organisation said it received the news with “great shock and deep sorrow” and described the late beauty queen as a “wonderful young woman,” while extending its condolences to her family, friends and loved ones.
Sisic, who was born in Vienna, was crowned Miss Vienna in January 2024 before winning the Miss Austria title later that year. She remained the reigning Miss Austria because no subsequent national pageant was held.
The young beauty queen had openly spoken about living with a congenital heart valve defect from birth. Reports indicate that she underwent seven heart procedures throughout her life, including her most recent surgery in late 2025.
Despite her long health journey, Sisic maintained an active public life and used her experiences to speak about resilience and overcoming difficult moments.
However, her exact cause of death has not been officially disclosed, and there is currently no confirmation that her congenital heart condition directly caused her death.
Her death has sparked an outpouring of tributes, with fellow titleholders, friends and members of the pageant community remembering her for her strength, kindness and positive impact.
Sisic’s death at just 22 has left the Miss Austria family mourning the loss of a young titleholder whose journey had inspired many.
