Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have intercepted a Toyota Sienna vehicle allegedly conveying cartons of suspected illicit drugs and military accoutrements in the state.
The vehicle was intercepted on Friday, September 18, 2026, following an intelligence-led operation by operatives of the Command Anti-Cult Unit (CACU), Asaba.
According to a statement issued by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the operatives received credible information that a Sienna vehicle carrying suspected illicit drugs and military items was travelling from Onitsha towards Ondo State.
Acting on the information, the operatives mounted surveillance along the suspected route and intercepted the vehicle at about 4:50 a.m.
The vehicle, identified as a green Toyota Sienna with registration number KP 527 AAA, was searched by the operatives.
The police said the search led to the recovery of cartons of suspected Tramadol and other suspected illicit drugs, alongside military camouflage uniforms, boots and hats.
The driver, identified as 45-year-old Isaac Urji from Abia State, was arrested in connection with the consignment.
The command said investigation had commenced to determine the source and intended destination of the recovered items, as well as identify other individuals who may be connected to the consignment.
The development forms part of ongoing intelligence-led operations by the Delta State Police Command against drug trafficking, cultism, kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state.
The police also urged members of the public to continue providing credible information that could assist security agencies in preventing crime and apprehending suspects.
