The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has disclosed that it recorded more than 6,100 flying hours and over 2,900 sorties in 11 months, consuming nearly 10 million litres of aviation fuel during operations across Nigeria.
The figures covered the period from November 2025 to September 2026 and were announced in a statement issued on Sunday, October 25, by the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
According to the statement, the operations supported Nigeria’s security efforts through precision air strikes, armed reconnaissance, surveillance and close air support for ground troops.
The Air Force said its missions were guided by intelligence, clear operational objectives and assessments to ensure that each flight contributed to national security.
The disclosure comes ahead of the first anniversary of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, in office on October 30, 2026.
Beyond its operational activities, the service said it had continued to improve personnel welfare, expand training and modernise its aircraft fleet.
It also reported receiving five helicopters in September 2026, comprising three AW-109 Trekker Type B helicopters and two H125 helicopters.
The NAF added that it was pursuing the acquisition of 12 AH-1Z attack helicopters, alongside other aircraft and unmanned aerial systems, to strengthen its combat, surveillance, training and airlift capabilities.
The service said its ongoing reforms were focused on improving operational readiness, strengthening cooperation with ground forces and translating investments in personnel, equipment and technology into better security outcomes.
