In line with his commitment to the health and well-being of his constituents, the Federal Lawmaker, representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency, Rep. Bassey Akiba, earlier today, officially flagged off Bassey Akiba Free Medical Outreach, drawing palpable excitement from constituents.

The event, held at the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Calabar, was attended by a large crowd eager to benefit from the health services being offered. During the launch, Rep. Akiba emphasized his dedication to ensuring quality representation for his constituents. “Today’s outreach is a testament to my unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of our community,” he stated. “Access to quality healthcare is a right, not a privilege, and I will continue to advocate for initiatives that support the health needs of our people.”
Rep. Bassey Akiba who is also the Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Healthcare Services, highlighted the outreach’s comprehensive service to include consultations, surgeries, eye care, free spectacles, diagnostic tests, treatments, drug dispensing, and referrals even as he pledged continued collaboration with the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital and other key health institutions in delivering healthcare services to the people.
Earlier, the Commander, Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Surgeon Captain S. Ocholi, said the medical outreach will positively impact the people, emphasizing the importance of a healthy population for socio-economic development. He thanked Rep. Bassey Akiba for the laudable initiative and his partnership with the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital.

Also speaking, the lead medical personnel, Dr. Felix Archibong, commended Rep. Bassey Akiba for providing free medical outreach for his constituents, particularly the vulnerable, adding that the medical outreach will offer a range of surgical interventions, including Hernias repairs, Appendectomy, Hydrocelectomy, Haemorrhoidectmy, Lipoma excision, and
Ganglion repairs
The visibly elated participants expressed their gratitude and excitement for the initiative, with many noting that such programmes are crucial, especially for those unable to afford medical care. “This is a remarkable opportunity for us. We are thankful for Rep. Bassey Akiba’s efforts in bringing healthcare to our doorstep.”
