The Government of Cross River State has called on all citizens to view security as a shared responsibility and to actively support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts in ensuring national safety and stability. This appeal was made during the commissioning of cadets at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna.
Speaking to newsmen at the event, the Special Assistant on Student Affairs, Hon. Enyam Joseph-Kelvin, expressed confidence in Nigeria’s defense system and stressed the importance of collective action in addressing the country’s security challenges. He emphasized the need for a multidimensional approach to combat terrorism and insecurity, calling on all Nigerians to play a role in ensuring peace and safety.
Hon. Joseph-Kelvin also highlighted the vital contribution of the newly commissioned cadets in securing Nigeria’s future. He urged them to uphold the values of discipline, professionalism, and patriotism that define the NDA. Among the new officers were 12 cadets from Cross River State, who were celebrated for their successful completion of the rigorous training program, marking a proud moment for the state.
His remarks further underscored the importance of collaboration between the government, military, and the general public in the fight against insecurity. He reiterated that national safety is essential for the long-term stability of President Tinubu’s administration. Additionally, he emphasized the commitment of Cross River State’s “People’s First” Governor, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, to ensuring the welfare of students, both within and outside Nigeria.
