The Cross River State Planning Commission successfully concluded a 3-day coordination meeting on Food and Nutrition programs held in Ikom. Participants from across the country gathered to discuss strategies and collaborate for improved nutritional outcomes.
This meeting marked a significant milestone with the Cross River State Planning Commission officially assuming the role of coordinating Agency for food and nutrition programs. The Commission\’s well-equipped Nutrition Department, staffed by experienced professionals, will play a key role in driving effective service delivery throughout the state.
Dr. Inyang Asibong, Special Adviser on Gender Mainstreaming, represented Dr. Bong Duke, Vice Chairman of the Commission. Dr. Asibong emphasized that the meeting\’s key deliverables align with the Commission\’s core mandates: advocacy, monitoring and evaluation, resource mobilization, and capacity building.
\”We are firmly committed to ensuring the timely implementation of planned activities,\” stated Dr. Asibong. \”This meeting has fostered collaboration across various sectors, creating a platform for the development of impactful programs that will address nutrition-related issues. We also deeply appreciate Sen Bassey Otu for prompt approval of fund release for Nutrition based activities in the State, this is in line with the People’s first Mantra of the Cross River State Government.
She concluded by acknowledging the contributions of UNICEF in organizing this very important meeting.
Participants were actively engaged in discussions and encouraged to design impactful activities with the potential to significantly improve nutritional outcomes nationwide.
