Dangote Cement Empowers Host Communities.

Dangote Cement has demonstrated its commitment to improving the lives of its host communities.

By presenting a cheque of N16,215,000 in scholarships to 120 indigent students in Ogun State.

This gesture is part of the company’s activities to mark its 2024 Community Day.

 

Commitment to Community Development.

The company is based in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State. 

Reiterated its dedication to enhancing the socio-economic development of its host communities.

According to the Ibese Plant Manager, Mr. Roy Uttam, the company has embarked on 25 community projects.

It includes the renovation of health centers, provision of solar-powered boreholes, electricity projects, youth and women empowerment, among others.

 

Dangote’s Empowerment Initiatives.

As part of its social investment projects, Dangote Cement has implemented various empowerment initiatives, including:

 

Scholarship Awards:120 outstanding and indigent students received scholarship awards.

Women Empowerment: The company distributed 55 chest freezers  to support vulnerable women in starting or expanding their businesses.

Youth Empowerment: 30 youths completed training in shoe and leather bag making and received multimillion-naira starter packs.

Farmer Support: 60 farmers received fertilizers, pesticides, and knapsack sprayers.

 

Appreciation and Recognition.

The Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Adebola Sofela was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Olu Aikulola.

Also speaking at the event, He commended the Dangote Group for its remarkable commitment to uplifting the lives of its host communities.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers from the host communities, the Aboro of Iboro, Oba Daniel Salako, lauded Dangote Cement for its committed interest and investment in enhancing the development of the host communities.

 

Oba Salako, while urging the company to improve its support for the communities, also encouraged members of the communities to continue cooperating with the company staff for mutual benefits.

 

Challenges and Future Commitments.

Despite the challenges posed by the prevailing economic situation

Dangote Cement has assured its host communities of its commitment to completing the remaining projects next year.

The company has called for more collaboration from the host communities and pledged to ensure that no effort is spared in embarking on various intervention projects.
