Fewticket: Cross Riverian Spearheading Innovation in Africa’s Technology Ecosystem

Written by calabarGist

Africa’s experience economy is experiencing rapid growth, fueled by increasing demand for concerts, business conferences, sporting events and cultural festivals. Yet, the digital infrastructure supporting this expanding sector remains fragmented.

At the forefront of efforts to bridge this gap is Louis Bassey, a technology innovator and entrepreneur from Cross River State, whose digital platform, Fewticket, is transforming how live events are managed, accessed and monetised across Africa.

Fewticket Builds Digital Infrastructure for Africa’s Experience Economy

Fewticket operates as a comprehensive digital ecosystem, providing event organisers with end-to-end technology for ticket distribution, guest registration, digital check-ins, multi-currency payments and real-time event analytics.

The platform is also designed to make event access easier for audiences through WhatsApp ticket sales and localised digital payment options, creating a simpler way for people to discover, purchase tickets and attend events.

Platform Powers Over 300 Events

Since its launch in September 2025, Fewticket has recorded significant growth within Africa’s event industry.

The platform has reportedly:

  • Powered more than 300 events
  • Facilitated the sale of over 1 million tickets
  • Reached more than 100,000 monthly active users

Its growing client portfolio includes notable events and gatherings such as FunFest, The Big Picnic, the Model ECOWAS Summit and the Women in DeFi Summit.

Offline Technology Tackles Venue Challenges

One of Fewticket’s key innovations addresses common operational challenges faced by event organisers across Africa, particularly poor network connectivity and delays at venue entrances.

The platform incorporates offline-first ticket scanning technology, allowing organisers to validate large volumes of tickets even in areas with limited or unstable internet connectivity.

The technology is designed to minimise disruptions at entry points and ensure smoother gate operations during major events.

‘Africa Does Not Lack Experiences’

Speaking on the vision behind Fewticket, its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Louis Bassey, said Africa already possesses the culture, creativity and experiences needed to build a thriving experience economy.

“Africa does not lack experiences. We have incredible culture, entertainment, tourism, creativity and communities.”

According to Bassey, the next opportunity lies in developing technology capable of connecting those experiences with more people efficiently and at scale.

“The opportunity now is to build the technology that connects these experiences to more people, more seamlessly and at greater scale.”

Fewticket Eyes Broader Role Beyond Ticketing

As consumer preferences across Africa increasingly shift towards live entertainment, cultural participation and experiential activities, Fewticket is positioning itself beyond conventional event ticketing.

The platform aims to connect live events, tourism, commerce and digital discovery, potentially creating a broader digital ecosystem around Africa’s growing experience economy.

With its technology-driven approach and growing footprint, the Cross River-born innovation platform is emerging as one of the ventures seeking to reshape how Africans discover, access and experience events across the continent.
