INEC Makes Fresh Move on 2027 Voter Register After Public Concerns

Written by Mary Bassey

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to publish the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general elections online following concerns over public access to the document.

The commission announced the decision on Monday, October 26, 2026, after the register was displayed physically at registration areas across the country from October 9 to 15.

The move is expected to make the preliminary register more accessible to Nigerians and other stakeholders who wish to examine the records ahead of the next general elections.

The publication will provide an additional opportunity for members of the public to check the register and identify possible errors or omissions, subject to the details and procedures to be announced by the commission.

The development comes as preparations for the 2027 general elections continue, with voter registration records remaining an important part of the electoral process.

INEC is expected to provide further information on how Nigerians can access the online register and raise concerns about entries where necessary.

Eligible voters are advised to follow official INEC announcements for updates on the publication and any steps required to verify their details.
