LAFARGE PLC to train 50 UNICAL students in cement engineering
LAFARGE PLC PARTNER UNIVERSITY OF CALABAR
On 6th October 2022, His Excellency Mr. Donald Duke former Executive Governor of Cross River State and Chairman of BoT of Unical Endowment Fund hosted a delegation of Lafarge Africa Plc team led by Khaled El Dokani, Chief Executive Officer and in attendance at the dinner was the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Banku Obi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Administration, Prof. Mike Okom and the Dean of Faculty of Engineering Prof. Odey Osha. During the dinner, Lafarge promised to support the University of Calabar and train 50 students of the University of Calabar in cement engineering at LaFarge production plants and retain at least 15 at the end of the training, award an automatic scholarship to students from host communities studying engineering at the University of Calabar. The faculty in turn will review its academic curriculum to include courses in cement engineering.
