Man City Dismiss Haaland-to-Real Madrid Reports, Consider Legal Action
Manchester City have strongly denied recent reports linking star striker Erling Haaland with a potential move to Real Madrid and are reportedly considering legal action over the unauthorized use of the player’s image in connection with the claims.
The speculation emerged following comments attributed to Spanish football figure Enrique Riquelme, who suggested that Real Madrid could make a move for the Norwegian forward. However, both Haaland’s representatives and Manchester City have firmly rejected the reports, describing them as false and misleading.
In an official response, Manchester City stated:
“The stories which have emerged from Spain regarding the future of Erling Haaland are untrue. There is no chance of this happening, and there is no contractual clause to enable it.”
The club’s statement directly addresses claims that Haaland could have a contractual pathway to leave the Etihad Stadium for the Spanish giants. City insist that no such clause exists and that the striker remains fully committed to the club.
Haaland has been a key figure in City’s success since arriving from Borussia Dortmund, helping the club secure major domestic and European honors while establishing himself as one of the world’s most prolific goal scorers.
In addition to rejecting the transfer rumors, Manchester City revealed they are exploring legal options regarding the publication of the story.
“We are considering legal action for the use of our player’s image in this context,” the club added.
The statement signals the club’s frustration with the spread of what it considers unfounded speculation and the use of Haaland’s likeness in reports that City believes lack factual basis.
While transfer rumors involving elite players are common, Manchester City’s decisive response leaves little room for doubt regarding their position. The Premier League champions have reiterated that Haaland is not available for transfer and that the reports suggesting a move to Real Madrid are entirely without foundation.
For now, the Norwegian international remains focused on his future with Manchester City as the club continues preparations for the upcoming season.
