A Nigerian woman, Habibat Salawudeen Ihiovi-Jack, has captured public attention after embarking on an ambitious attempt to set a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest continuous Holy Bible reading marathon.

The record attempt, themed “144 Hours in the Word,” began on June 22, 2026, at Novotel Hotel in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where she is expected to read the Holy Bible continuously for 144 hours, in line with Guinness World Records regulations. The marathon is scheduled to end on July 2, 2026, after completing the required duration.

The endurance challenge is not only a test of physical and mental resilience but also a demonstration of unwavering faith and commitment to the Scriptures. Throughout the attempt, Habibat will read aloud from the Bible while adhering to the official Guinness World Records guidelines, which include strict monitoring, continuous documentation, and regulated rest breaks earned during the marathon.

Organisers described the initiative as more than a record-breaking attempt, saying it is designed to encourage Bible study, inspire believers, and promote the message of hope, faith, and perseverance across communities.

The event has drawn support from religious leaders, family members, friends, and members of the public, many of whom have visited the venue to cheer her on. Others have taken to social media to express admiration for her dedication and to wish her success as she pursues the historic feat.

If successfully completed and officially verified by Guinness World Records, Habibat would join the growing list of Nigerians making headlines with remarkable endurance challenges on the global stage. In recent years, Nigerians have gained international recognition for attempting and setting various Guinness World Records across different fields, reflecting the country’s increasing enthusiasm for global record-breaking achievements.
