The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Cross River State, has called on all eligible residents to take advantage of the remaining days of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, describing voter registration as the foundation of democracy and active civic participation.
Addressing journalists in Calabar, IPAC State Chairman, Engr. Effiom Edet Okon, said the council’s campaign goes beyond politics and is focused on securing the future of Cross River State through increased democratic participation.
According to IPAC, the message to citizens is clear: “No Voter’s Card, No Voice. No Registration, No Participation. Democracy begins with voter registration.”
The council revealed that it has been working with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), political parties, civil society organisations, youth and women groups, traditional rulers, religious leaders, market associations, and other stakeholders across the state’s 18 local government areas to encourage eligible citizens to register.
IPAC expressed satisfaction with the level of public response so far and announced its ambition for Cross River State to record at least 2.5 million votes during the 2027 General Elections.
It urged parents, community leaders, religious institutions, political parties, and youths to intensify efforts to mobilise unregistered eligible voters before the registration exercise closes.
IPAC also commended Cross River State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, for what it described as his commitment to inclusive governance and democratic engagement. The council highlighted the governor’s support through the provision of an operational vehicle.
Reaffirming its support for the state government, IPAC said it remains committed to promoting peace, political tolerance, issue-based campaigns, voter education .
“Every Permanent Voter’s Card is a weapon against political apathy. Every registered voter is a defender of democracy, and every vote has the power to shape the destiny of Cross River State,” the council stated.
IPAC concluded by encouraging all eligible Cross Riverians to register, mobilise others, and participate in the 2027 General Elections, expressing confidence that collective efforts would deepen democracy and position the state among Nigeria’s strongest voting blocs.
