The Rural Electrification Agency\’s South-South Zonal Coordinator has assured that the University of Calabar (UNICAL) will receive a constant solar light supply between August and September 2024.
The Lead Resident Engineer, Engr. Ekop Stephen, announced that the project is 90% complete, with test running of the equipment set to commence before the specified deadline. Notably, students from the engineering department have been trained specifically for the project and have demonstrated their involvement by mounting solar panels.
During a visit to the Solar Farm, the management of UNICAL was urged to consider establishing a \”Department of Renewable Energy\” in the institution, further solidifying their commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
This development marks a significant milestone in UNICAL\’s journey towards renewable energy and sustainability, ensuring a reliable and eco-friendly power supply for the university community.
