Through the SHARE Initiative, we have witnessed transformational changes in Cross River State. We have seen women gain access to critical resources, skills, and opportunities that have empowered them to break the cycle of poverty and marginalization.
The economic empowerment programs have not only enhanced their financial independence but also elevated their status within their communities.
Reading the success stories of women like Aliana, a refugee woman who learned to cultivate mushrooms, and seeing how this skill has helped her and her family stand on their feet, is truly inspiring. It is worthy to note that empowering a woman is empowering a nation.
This progress is not just a testament to the success of the SHARE Initiative but a clear indicator of what can be achieved when we invest in gender equality and women\’s empowerment.
As we close this chapter of the SHARE Initiative, let us not see it as an end but as a new beginning. The foundation we have laid is strong, and it is now up to us to build upon it.
His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, the People’s First Governor, and our dear mother and champion of gender equality, Rev. Mrs. Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, share this vision of empowering women and girls. That is why they created the Department of Gender Mainstreaming to consolidate all our efforts towards gender equality and women’s empowerment.
They have provided other schemes, such as soil grants to rural women and the empowerment of women in fish farming. We have seen significant changes in the income and overall status of women in the state, and this shows the Cross River State Government\’s commitment to women’s empowerment.
I urge us to continue to support the government’s work in empowering women, invest in programs that empower our women and girls, and strive for a society where everyone, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to thrive.
Thank you to all the partners, stakeholders, and community members who have contributed to the success of this initiative.
Your dedication and hard work have made a lasting impact, and for that, we are all immensely grateful.
God bless you. \”
