The Cross River State Government has assured the public, carnival enthusiasts, and fun seekers of a vibrant and grand 2024 Calabar Carnival, with final preparations for the highly anticipated event reaching their peak.

He highlighted a lineup of colorful parades, musical performances, cultural displays, and other festivities that continue to uphold the carnival’s status as Africa’s largest street party.

Speaking through the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Sylvester Agabi, Governor Bassey Otu encouraged residents and visitors to actively participate in the event. He highlighted its importance in promoting tourism and celebrating the state’s rich culture.

He also assured that security and logistics have been carefully arranged to guarantee a smooth and safe celebration.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Cross River State Carnival Commission, Gabe Onah, stated that the 2024 Calabar Carnival and Festival, themed “Our Shared Prosperity,” has been carefully designed to provide visitors, viewers, and the public with an unforgettable experience.

He noted that, given the challenge of covering the 12-kilometer carnival route while delivering world-class entertainment, safety measures have been put in place to handle any accidents or emergencies to align with international standards.

Esheru Osime, representing International Energy Insurance, however assured that over 15,000 revelers entertaining the world along the route in Africa’s biggest street party are covered by adequate compensation arrangements.

Clement Nyambi, the Executive Director of Yanga Games, announced that three lucky winners would walk away with a total of ₦10 million during the carnival through a raffle draw.
