NKO AND ONYADAMA: CRSG Through The CRSMOH, CRSPHCDA, And Partners Sends Relief Materials To War-Ravaged Nko Community
The Government of Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade has made a swift response by sending relief materials and free medical outreach to Nko community as regards the communal clash that has been bothering the Nko and Onyadama communities.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Obol Lopon of Ugep Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng as tradition demands, the Director General of the CRSPHCDA Dr. Janet Ekpenyong conveyed the goodwill of His Excellency Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade to the good people of Nko reassuring them of his commitment to ensuring peace and unity and sending in more relief materials to them.
\”Obol, Gov. Ben Ayade and his beloved wife extend their regards to your people, he has asked us to inform you that more support and interventions will come. We couldn\’t have gone to Nko without seeking for your permission and blessings as we\’re here under the instructions of Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade and his dear wife Dr. Linda Ayade. He calls for peace and charge Nko and onyadama communities to live as one as war hinders development.\”
The Permanent Secretary of the CRSMOH Dr. Iwara Iwara thanked the Obol Lopon for his steadfastness and efforts to seek for Peace and accommodate the refugees. He charged both communities especially youths to practice and promote peace stating that war has never brought anything good. \”His Excellency Sen Ben Ayade and his dear wife Dr. Linda Ayade has asked us to inform you that you both should sue for peace and unity and has asked us to bring this relief materials with the assurance that more support will come.\”
The Director of the Cross River State Emergency Agency (SEMA) Mr. Princewill Ayim and the head of Human Right Commission Mr. Remi Ajuga who also spoke during the visit promised the communities that they\’ll continue to get support from both the State government and other national bodies as the records of the damages caused will be assessed and a formal report made so the government will know where to further support.
In appreciation, the Obol Lopon of Ugep who spoke on behalf of all the traditional rulers thanked the government of Sen. Ben Ayade, the CRSMOH, the CRSPHCDA, SEMA and all other partners for the support and show of solidarity. \”This government has always stood by my people and we appreciate the Governor for his love, care and concern. Communal clashes is never a good thing as we\’ve been through a lot lately. But we thank God that peace has been restored and our people have begin to live their normal lives again as you can see, normalcy and calm has returned back to both communities and the government as well as the security played a huge role and we\’re grateful for that.
So far, four persons lost their lives, the five soldiers that were shot all survived and are responding to treatment as soldiers have been withdrawn from the community but only visit at intervals to continue their investigation.
Other members of the team that visited includes; the State Epidemiologist Pst. Inyang Ekpenyong, Yakurr PHC Director, Mr. Igri Arikpo, Mrs Ekaette Obase of the CRSMOH AIDS program, and a host of other dignitaries.
