Calabar, Cross River – Calabar is set to host the maiden edition of the Information, Press and Media/PRO Convergence Week 2026, a five-day gathering that will bring together Directors of Information (DOIs), Public Relations Officers (PROs), Special Advisers on Media and Publicity, campus journalists, and media professionals from tertiary institutions across Cross River State.
Organised by CyanahPEN in collaboration with a Central Planning Committee comprising university PROs, Special Advisers on Media, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Cross River State Council, Campus Press Unions, the Bloggers Guild, and the NANS Press Corps, the event aims to strengthen collaboration among media practitioners while promoting responsible communication.
The convergence, themed “One Voice, Every Platform,” with the sub-theme “Shaping Narratives On & Offline,” carries the slogan “From Campus Press to Global Trends — As We Inform & Influence.”
The event is scheduled to hold from Monday, July 27, to Friday, July 31, 2026, at Tynawhite Eatery, opposite the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) Main Gate, Calabar. It will be conducted in a hybrid format, allowing participants to attend physically or join via livestream.
According to the organisers, the programme is designed to unite media voices across tertiary institutions, encourage knowledge sharing, and build a strong network of communicators capable of addressing the challenges of misinformation and the growing influence of artificial intelligence in media.
Participation is open to Directors of Information, Public Relations Officers, Special Advisers on Media and Publicity, Campus Press executives, SUG Directors of Information, bloggers, influencers, student journalists, radio and television presenters, writers, fact-checkers, and government media aides. While the primary focus is on Cross River State, guest speakers and participants from other states are also expected.
Registration is free for verified campus PROs, SUG Press officials, and student media practitioners through the event’s WhatsApp wait-list group, while sponsorship opportunities are available for government agencies and private sector partners.
