NMDPRA Seals Two Ogun Filling Stations Over Fuel Under-Dispensing See Why

Written by Mary Bassey

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has sealed two filling stations in Ogun State for allegedly under-dispensing fuel and engaging in practices that violate the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.

The affected stations, Mangarborn Energy and Mobil Filling Station, are located along the Akute/Ajuwon axis in Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

The enforcement exercise was carried out on Monday by officials of the NMDPRA Abeokuta Field Office, led by the Head of Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure, Olufemi Adebowale.

According to Adebowale, the action was taken after the stations were found to be dispensing less fuel than customers paid for, alongside other irregularities that contravene the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021.

He said the operation reflects the Federal Government’s determination to protect consumers from unfair business practices and ensure that petroleum marketers comply with established industry regulations.

Adebowale warned filling station operators against engaging in fraudulent practices, stressing that the NMDPRA would continue routine inspections and enforcement exercises across Ogun State to safeguard consumers and maintain transparency in the downstream petroleum sector.

He also urged members of the public to report suspected cases of fuel under-dispensing and other unethical practices to the authority for prompt investigation and necessary action.
