The Member representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Bassey Akiba, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to supporting livelihoods and enhancing agricultural productivity across the constituency of Ward 7 calabar Municipal.
This assurance was restated during a strategic distribution of fertilizers to farmers in Ikot Anwatim community, Calabar Municipality, where Rep. Akiba personally supervised the exercise and engaged with the jubilant beneficiaries. The intervention is part of his broader constituency-focused initiative to boost local food production, reduce poverty, and support farmers in line with his Livelihood Support Programme.

The distribution, which saw hundreds of bags of fertilizers handed out to genuine farmers of Ward 7, it was met with palpable excitement, heartfelt gratitude, and chants of solidarity from the beneficiaries. Many described the gesture as timely and life-changing.
Speaking during the event, Rep. Akiba emphasized the importance of agriculture as a driver of economic growth and a key pillar of rural development. “Our farmers are the backbone of our local economy. Supporting them means strengthening food security, creating jobs, and improving livelihoods. What we are doing here today is not just about fertilizer; it is about investing in our people and their future,” he said.

Farmers of Ward 7 Calabar Municipality ended the distribution session with praises and acknowledging the gesture Rep member has shown to them. In reassurance, they pledged to support Bassey Akiba 100/100 come 2027 in accordance to who he asked them to support also.
