Super Falcons Player Breaks Silence After Cash Mysteriously Disappears

Written by Mary Bassey

Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has alleged that cash went missing from players’ rooms while the Nigerian team was camped at a hotel in Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The striker made the claims in a series of posts shared on her Snapchat account on Friday, alleging that members of the hotel’s cleaning staff were responsible for the missing money.

According to Okoronkwo, the incidents occurred while players were away from their rooms and housekeeping staff were carrying out routine cleaning duties. She claimed several players were affected and expressed disappointment over the situation.

The Super Falcons had been staying at the Casablanca hotel as part of their final preparations before travelling to Rabat, where they are scheduled to play their Group C matches in the tournament.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) nor the hotel management had issued an official statement addressing the allegations. It also remains unclear whether a formal complaint has been lodged with Moroccan authorities.

The allegations have generated reactions on social media, with many fans calling for a thorough investigation to determine what happened and ensure the safety of the team’s belongings during the competition.
