Lara Kudayisi Don-Momoh, the wife of Teddy Don-Momoh, widower of late Nigerian gospel singer Kefee, has died just weeks after the couple welcomed their first child together.
The sad news was announced by Lara’s family in a statement shared on her official Instagram page on Monday. According to the statement, she passed away peacefully following a brief illness.
The family described Lara as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished daughter, sister and friend whose kindness and impact touched many lives.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, Lara Kudayisi Don-Momoh,” the statement read.
It added that she died peacefully after a brief illness, while asking friends, well-wishers and members of the public to respect the family’s privacy as they grieve.
“During this deeply painful time, we humbly ask for privacy and prayers for the peaceful repose of her soul, and for all who mourn this immeasurable loss,” the family said.
Lara’s death comes barely two weeks after she and her husband, Teddy Don-Momoh, celebrated the birth of their first child, making the tragedy even more heartbreaking.
Teddy Don-Momoh was previously married to Kefee, the award-winning gospel singer best known for her hit song Kokoroko. Kefee died in June 2014 at the age of 34 after reportedly battling complications from pulmonary hypertension while in the United States for medical treatment.
The latest tragedy has sparked an outpouring of condolences on social media, with fans, friends and colleagues offering prayers and messages of support to Teddy Don-Momoh and the entire family during this difficult period.
