6 Cross Riverians Receive NYSC Presidential Awards

Six indigenes of Cross River state who had performed excellently and successfully exceptional during their service year at the National youth service corp have received Presidential Honours and Awards for Their exceptional service

The event which took place at the Banquet Hall of the state House presidential villa in Abuja had over 210 Nigerians who received the prestigious President’s National Youth Service Corps Honours Award for their dedicated service between 2020 and 2023.

The ceremony recognises the commitment and impactful contributions of Nigeria’s youth.

The Awaredees from Cross river state on their various ways had shown High level patriotism and service to Humanity through various means

They include:
Utsu, Christopher Agiounim
Who has the following projects to include;
1. Construction of a toilet
2. Reconstruction of a well
3. Operation Zero Open Defecation (OZOD Sensitization Project)
4. Training & empowerment of 40 people on liquid soap making
5. Distribution of exercise books to 150 students
6. Award of scholarships to 2 primary school pupils up to primary 6 among others.

Udama Freedom Ayuwafube
Who Repaired Two hand pump borehole.
2. Sensitization awareness program on Basic Financial Literacy and Financial Services

Ndem Nkanor Ndem
Who excuted;

1. Health Awareness on
the sign and symptoms, treatments and the preventive measures of all viruses including the outbreak of most recent ones.

2. Reinstallation of Desktop
Computer Monitors in the computer lab of the St. Patrick’s College.

3. Repair of  Borehole in the St. Patrick’s College.

4. Awards and Scholarship.

Ominyang, Clement Ekunke.
Who during his service year had made possible;
1. Installation of solar Street light in GSS Shendam, Plateau State.
2. Training of 50 students in solar installations.
3. Training of 30 students in catering services.
4. Distribution of exercise books and graph books to 60 science students.
5. Training of students on solar and inverter troubleshooting.

Agom Johnson

1. Construction of four classroom blocks
2. Renovation of four class room block
3. Provision of markers, whiteboard, and books for over 300 students
4. Sensitization on the use of illicit drug
5. Contacted research on soybeans production in Afikpo and giving seeds for planting

Projects Done:
1. .Donation of three hundred dozens of writing materials (100 dozens of books, pens, and pencils)
2. Renovation of four toilets at dambo Tukur model primary school ingawa.
3. Provision of six (6) desks and chairs for the school.
4. Organisation of free Extra moral classes for over 80 students at Royal International School ingawa.
5. Sensitisation of 800 pupils of Dambo Tukur model primary school ingawa.
6. Donation of 100 wastepaper baskets to Royal International School ingawa.
7. Award of scholarships to 3 pupils at Benta maje ingawa.
8. Training and empowerment of 180 on food and food preservation programs.

List of projects executed:
I was honoured in the ‘Hope Alive’ category because I was involved in a disastrous accident during active service, which made me disabled.

The awardees are made up of 200 ex-corps members who excelled meritoriously in all four cardinal programmes of the NYSC.

Six outstanding indigenes of Cross River State have been honoured with the prestigious NYSC Presidential Award at the State House
