The Special Envoy to West Africa for the International Human Rights Protection Service, Amb. Dr. Charles Omini, has attributed Nigeria’s worsening insecurity to what he described as government negligence, urging authorities to take decisive steps to address the nation’s security challenges.
Speaking shortly after arriving in Abuja, Amb. Omini expressed concern over the reported inability of security agencies to rescue the 49 abducted schoolchildren in Oyo State, describing the situation as a reflection of the country’s ongoing security challenges.

According to him, the incident raises serious concerns about the government’s commitment to tackling insecurity and protecting the lives of citizens.
He called on the Federal Government to strengthen the nation’s security architecture by providing adequate funding, modern equipment, and advanced technical training for security personnel.
Amb. Omini stressed that investing in the capacity and skills of security agencies would enhance their effectiveness in responding to security threats and help restore public confidence in the country’s security system.
He urged the government to act swiftly to improve security operations and ensure the safety of all Nigerians.
