Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested more than 20 suspected internet fraudsters during a coordinated early-morning operation at a short-let apartment in Lekki, Lagos.
The raid was carried out at Mariton Apartments, located in Ikate, Lekki Phase 1, following credible intelligence that linked the facility to alleged cybercrime activities.
According to available information, EFCC operatives stormed several apartments within the complex as part of a targeted operation aimed at dismantling a suspected internet fraud network operating from the location.
During the exercise, officials recovered several items believed to be connected to the alleged offences, including laptops, smartphones, and other electronic devices. The recovered items have been taken into custody for forensic examination as investigations continue.
The anti-graft agency said the suspects are currently undergoing profiling and interrogation to determine their individual roles in the alleged cybercrime activities.
The EFCC added that those found culpable will be charged to court after investigations are concluded, in line with the law.
The commission has repeatedly warned Nigerians against engaging in internet fraud, stressing that it will continue intelligence-driven operations to curb cybercrime and bring offenders to justice.
