Mohammed Manga, a car salesman, is in a pickle when Henry, a client, stole a Mercedes Benz GLB 250 from him in the Abuja region of the Federal Capital Territory.
Manga reportedly told investigators that an unnamed buddy who works in the auto industry visited his office in Abuja and asked to deliver a vehicle valued at more than N55 million to a potential buyer.
After giving the car to the Henry-identifying customer, Manga claimed that his acquaintance had informed him that Henry had asked for a test drive and was joined by a friend following discussions.
Manga stated that while Henry was test-driving the car, his friend was with him. Manga continued by saying that when his friend told Henry he needed to withdraw money from a Point of Sale operator in order to fill up the car with fuel at a filling station, things took a turn for the worse.
\”A friend of mine called to ask if he could take my Mercedes Benz GLB 250 to a client,\” Manga stated. The client arrived at his workplace after he drove there. He claimed that the buyer identified himself as Henry from Gwarinpa and that he had seen the vehicle on an internet auction site.
\”He viewed the automobile and said he liked it. They negotiated a price of N55m for the car, and he said OK and insisted on taking it for a test drive. My companion sat in the passenger seat as he drove the car, and before the test drive, they went to the Garki gas station next to the automatic car wash to buy fuel.
But as soon as my friend got out of the car at the gas station to get cash from the PoS operator to pay for fuel, the driver took off in the automobile. You know how Abuja is, there\’s never any congestion or holdups, so that\’s how he got away with the automobile.
Manga stated that he reported the incident to the command\’s Anti-automobile Theft Unit and added that the stolen automobile is grey and has 19000 miles on it.
When reached, Josephine Ameh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, stated, \”The police are tracking the suspect (Henry).\” – Punch
