Alhaji Rasheed and Hajia Zainab Sing Birthday Duet!

Is there a phrase for birth month sharers? None that I know but it won\’t be out of place to coin one to aptly describe two lovebirds of the love song who have been brought together by fate and love, and who sing love and birthday duet every May!

Call them a May couple and you will not be wrong but the bottom line is that Alhaji Rasheed Olarewaju Zubair and his quintessentially detectable wife, Hajia Zainab Olarewaju Zubair are one of the very few couples in the world who share birth months.

So, for the amiable couple, May is the month of glory, and Thanksgiving to the Almighty Allah for the gift of life.

Their birthdays were beautifully and sequentially arranged by the creator to ensure a maximum double celebration. While Hajia Zainab\’s birthday is May 17th, that of her heartthrob, Alhaji Rasheed is the next day, 18th.

Essentially, Alhaji Rasheed, an icon of broadcast journalism and the AIT Senior Correspondent in Cross River state is people-oriented, a friendly media guru, and an amiable personality who you can not but take a liking to at first encounter.

With his disarming smiles and genial mien, the first impression you have of Rasheed, at first encounter, is that of a man at peace with himself and with those around him.

When you talk of acculturation, then you are talking about Rasheed. Though an Ilorin, Kwara-born, ethnically Yoruba, geographically a Northerner, and a devout Muslim, Alhaji Zubair breaths and oozes of Cross River, a state that has been home to him for over a decade and a half now and where he has made friends across tribes, religions, and cultures.

When he is decked in the traditional Efik regalia, Rasheed strikes you an Efik Prince from Odukpani or Akpabuyo or Bakassi. No! He is not. The person you see is the same Alhaji Rasheed. His Efik dress is simply an attestation to his acculturation.

And anytime you see him at a Christian event, mingling and dining with the clergy and Christian faithful, make no mistakes about it, he is still that devout and pious Muslim who dutifully observes the five pillars of Islam! Rasheed\’s presence at such a Christian event simply attests to his liberal and broad-minded nature!

Alhaji, as you and your heartthrob mark your special days, just know that the universe is standing still for the two of you.
