The Amajoba Autonomous Community in Biase Local Government Area witnessed a historic celebration as residents gathered for the commissioning of a new town hall, followed by the coronation of their illustrious son, Hon. Ekuma Ngwu JP, who was bestowed with the prestigious chieftaincy title of Onun Ewuwuni 1 of Amajoba, meaning The Number One Star of Amajoba.

During the welcome address, the Chairman of Amajoba Autonomous Community, Bishop Eugene Ekup Ukam, expressed gratitude to God and thanked the people for their unwavering support in actualizing the town hall project. He explained that the event was not just about celebrating a building but about honoring a son who has greatly impacted the Erei people through his leadership and philanthropy.

Today marks a double blessing for us the dedication of a new town hall for unity and development, and the crowning of our son, Hon. Ekuma Ngwu, whose contributions to education, health, and community welfare have placed Amajoba in the spotlight, Ukam reaffirmed.

Reacting during the ceremony, Hon. Francis Ogban, Member representing Biase LGA at the Cross River State House of Assembly, expressed his dismay at not being fully informed about the town hall construction- He said

Hon. Ogban reassured the people of Amajoba Community of full leadership from the People’s governor starting from the already existing activities so far. After much discussion He ended by supporting ₦100,000 to support the project.

The Chairman of Biase LGA, Hon. Edodi, described the occasion as a landmark achievement and applauded the community for recognizing a leader whose loyalty, hard work, and dedication have consistently spoken for him.

He pledged his continuous support for Amajoba and Biase at large, urging residents to rally behind the administration of Governor Bassey Otu for more developmental strides.
In his goodwill message, Edodi donated
₦300,000 to support the forthcoming New Yam Festival before returning to official council assignments.

Visibly moved by the honor, the newly crowned chief, Hon. Ekuma Ngwu JP, who is the current Vice Chairman of Biase Local Government Council, expressed deep gratitude to the community and pledged to continue serving with humility and dedication.

“I stand here today overwhelmed by the love and recognition bestowed upon me by my people. The title of Onun Ewuwuni 1 of Amajoba is not just an honor but a call to greater responsibility.

Our new town hall will not only serve as a center of unity but as a hub for ideas, culture, and development. Together, we will make Amajoba a shining example for all of Biase. I assure you that I will not relent in supporting education, health, and livelihood initiatives in this community and beyond.

Chief Ekuma ended by sponsoring the Amajoba family in the institution with educational financial support worth 3 million  urging the families to pick beneficiaries out of competence as they’re advice to open an educational account to receive funds

The event drew a large turnout, including community elders, traditional leaders, political representatives, women and youth groups, as well as members of the Biase political elite. It ended with cultural displays, thanksgiving, and a renewed call for unity and progress in Amajoba.
