The above matter refers, We the members of EFSSAN, UCC parliament under the Comr. Edward Edward led administration have observed with dismay the misconduct and violation of the oath office and constitution of The Executive President of EFSSAN. We have tried so hard and deployed all available options to dialogue with the President to bring him to reason all to avail.
A joint meeting involving the Executive President and his Executive Members;
Speaker of Parliament and Parliamentarians; the Faculty Spirit Head and Faculty Stakeholders; Governor\’s Forum Chairman and all Departmental Presidents; Departmental Spirit Heads as well as Senators from EFSSAN at the SUG level was held with the purpose of bringing dialogue of which the copy of the resolution is attached herein. But in all these, the President is bent on doing otherwise.
The call for suspension is thus:
1. The Comr. Edward Edward administration is long overdue for dissolution according to the constitution in Article 7 (7.1) yet the President has decided not to dissolve.
2. This administration have run from one academic session without any
capital project and have refused to appear to the parliament for financial
report and auditing despite several attempt via official invitation,
3.The parliament have received series of complain from his executives for
not involving them in running the affairs of the faculty both in decision
making and withdrawal of EFFSSAN funds thereby misappropriating the Association\’s funds without any visible project. Again, all efforts to have the President come for ciarification prove abortive, The attempt of the President refusing to dissolve and form an election committee (ELECO) that will have ample time to conduct a credible election before the commencement of second semester examination to enable the current year three student contest since no final year student is eligible to contest for any elective office was provided in the EFSSAN constitution,
It is on this premise that the parliament of EFSSAN-UCC posits that the executive President do not have the unity and growth of the faculty at heart. His style of leadership is self centered, personal interest, misappropriate of funds and gross violation of the rule of law of the EFSSAN Constitution.
We the EFSSAN -UCC parliament of the 1\’ assembly during the plenary session that took place on Tuesday, 3\’ October, 2023 on the basis of the constitutional laws as provided in the EFSSAN-UCC constitution, hereby suspend and relieve Com. Edward Edward Bassey as the Executive President of Educational Foundation Studies, student
association of Nigeria, University of Calabar Chapter (EFSSAN-UCC) till further
notice.
This suspension takes effect immediately. He is to handover every documents of EFSSAN-UCC to the Speaker of Partiament within 24 hours of this publication.
The EFSSAN-UCC General Congress slated for Wednesday, 4\’ October at open
Pavilion, Main Campus University of Calabar, Calabar shall be held by 3:00pm.
