The House of Representatives Member for Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency, Rep. Bassey Akiba, has lauded Governor Bassey Otu for the establishment of the State University of Education Akamkpa and the College of Agriculture in Obubra
In a release, Rep. Bassey Akiba highlighted the significance of these institutions in equipping the youth with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in an increasingly competitive world. “The establishment of a State University of Education and Entrepreneurship is a monumental step toward fostering innovation, creativity, and critical thinking among our students,” he stated. “By placing a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship, we are not only preparing our youth for the job market but also encouraging them to be job creators.”
The College of Agriculture in Obubra will further complements these efforts by providing specialized training and education in agricultural sciences. “This initiative aligns perfectly with our goal of enhancing food security, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and improving lives and livelihoods,” Rep. Bassey Akiba remarked. “With a strong educational foundation in agriculture, we can empower our communities to harness local resources and build a resilient agricultural sector.”
Rep. Bassey Akiba hailed Governor Otu for his vision and commitment to uplifting the educational landscape of Cross River State. “Education is the bedrock of any prosperous society, and with these new institutions, we are laying the groundwork for a brighter future for our children and our communities,” he added.
Recall that Governor Bassey Otu has signed into law two bills establishing the State University of Education and Entrepreneurship in Akamkpa and the State College of Agriculture in Obubra. The new State University of Education and Entrepreneurship succeeds the former State College of Education, Akamkpa, while the College of Agriculture in Obubra transitions from being a campus of the University of Cross River State, Calabar.
