Bishop Eyoanwan Commissions State-of-the-Art Entrepreneurial Development Center at College of Nursing, Calabar

 

In a grand ceremony, Bishop (Dr.) Mrs Eyoanwan Bassey Edet Otu, the wife of the Governor of Cross River State, officially commissioned the Bishop (Dr.) Mrs Eyoanwan Bassey Edet Otu Entrepreneurial Development Center at the College of Nursing Sciences Calabar.

The center will serve as a hub of innovation, collaboration, and inspiration, empowering students, youth, women, and underprivileged individuals with the skills including fashion and designing, Photography catering and other skills, aimed at driving economic growth and development.

The First Lady expressed her desire to partner with the centre to empower vulnerable groups and ensure a brighter future for them. She urged students to utilize the centre’s resources to turn their ideas into reality.

The Honorable Commissioner for Health, Elder (Dr.) Henry Egbe, praised the college management for the initiative, which aligns with the Governor’s vision to empower youth with skills and knowledge to drive innovation and economic growth, and meets the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) requirements for student training.

The Provost of the College of Nursing Sciences, Mrs. Joy Obeten described the center as a significant milestone in fostering entrepreneurial spirit among students and the wider community. She thanked the governor for providing resources to establish the centre, fulfilling NBTE requirements.

The Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Christy Essien Ekpe expressed gratitude to the First Lady for her tireless efforts in empowering the citizenry and requested that she continue her good work.

The entrepreneurial centre is named after Her Excellency as a token of appreciation for her dedication to empowering society.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon Edema Erom, the wife of the Chief of Staff, Dr. Mrs. Virginia Emmanuel Ironbar, wives of legislators, DG PHCDA, Dr(Mrs) Vivian Otu, Special Adviser on Nursing Education, Mrs. Spencer Efem, Special Assistant on Nursing, Mr. Coco-Bassey Esu, other political appointees, Director of Nursing Services, CRS, Mrs. Roseline Obojor Ogar, NANNM Chairman, CRS, Comrd Josephine Bassey, and Managementand staff of the College.

The establishment of the entrepreneurial centre marks a new era of innovation and entrepreneurship at the College of Nursing Sciences Calabar, expected to positively impact students’ and the community’s lives.
