In a heartwarming gesture aimed at easing transportation challenges for students, Senator Eteng Jones, representing the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State, has sponsored free bus transportation for students traveling from Calabar to their various local government areas within the district for the Yuletide season.
The initiative, which targets students currently residing in Calabar for educational purposes, is designed to support at least 100 students returning home to celebrate Christmas and the New Year with their families.

Speaking on the development, Gifted Nelson, Special Adviser to the Senator on Youth Affairs, disclosed that four buseshave been made available for the exercise. He explained that the buses will remain stationed at the APC Secretariat, which serves as the designated departure point, to convey eligible students from the Central Senatorial District.

According to him, the Senator’s support goes beyond the festive season, as plans are already in place to ensure students return safely to school after the holidays.
“After the Christmas and New Year break, the Senator is prepared to sponsor another bus to strategic locations to convey students back to Calabar for the continuation of their studies,” Nelson said.
Students who benefited from the initiative expressed deep appreciation to Senator Eteng Jones for his thoughtfulness and commitment to youth welfare, reaffirming their confidence, trust, and support for his leadership.
Gifted Nelson, on behalf of the Senator, wished all students a safe journey, a Merry Christmas, and a prosperous New Year, noting that the welfare and educational advancement of young people remain a top priority of the Senator’s representation.
The initiative has been widely praised as a people-centered intervention that reflects responsive leadership and genuine concern for students’ wellbeing in Cross River State.
