The renowned Calas Vegas Carnival Band, based in Calabar, has been officially selected to represent Nigeria at the World Festival of Arts and Crafts scheduled to take place in India in early 2026.
This exciting announcement was made by High Chief Eden Duke during a media chat with Calabargist correspondents, where he revealed major developments within the Calas Vegas Band camp.
According to him, the invitation to India is a prestigious recognition not only for the band but also for Cross River State and Nigeria as a whole. The event, held annually at Surajkund Mela, a globally celebrated arts and culture festival, attracts over 50 countries from around the world.

High Chief Eden Duke described the selection as a significant achievement, noting that it highlights the global acceptance of Nigeria’s artistic expressions and Calabar’s rich creative culture.
“It is a privilege and pleasure for Calas Vegas because this selection recognizes the fact that Nigeria, especially Cross River State, has become a global brand through its artistic and creative performances,” he said.
“As the reigning Carnival Champions for 2023 and 2024, Calas Vegas was chosen to represent Nigeria, and this has brought excitement, joy, and a challenge for us to prepare even better.”

for the entire troupe will be covered by the government of India.
Calas Vegas Band and the Cross River State Government will take responsibility for the welfare and logistics of the participating members.
In preparation for the global performance, the band has commenced:

This is to ensure the team represents Calas Vegas, Cross River State, and Nigeria at the highest standard on the international stage.
High Chief Duke emphasized the significance of this milestone:
“This is breaking new ground. It validates the biggest street party in Africa, the Calabar Carnival. Our goal is to represent Nigeria, the largest Black nation on Earth, with excellence.”
The global festival promises to spotlight Nigeria’s cultural brilliance, and Calas Vegas Band is poised to showcase the vibrant creativity that has made Calabar an international carnival hub.
