On this Teachers’ Day 2024, ELD/Mrs. Giftie Orok Bassey-Duke, a highly respected educator and administrator, is celebrated for her exceptional contributions to education.
Born on September 25, 1953, in Lagos, Nigeria, she has had a distinguished career, excelling academically from her early years, earning scholarships throughout her education, including a master’s degree in French from the University of Ibadan.
Since beginning her teaching career in 1978, Mrs. Bassey-Duke has held various leadership roles, eventually becoming Director of Schools in Cross River State. Her leadership transformed the schools she managed, significantly improving infrastructure and academic performance. She has earned numerous awards, including the Governor’s Excellence Award, and is known for her collaboration with NGOs to enhance student resources.
Beyond education, Mrs. Bassey-Duke is dedicated to her family, faith, and multiple talents, including gospel singing, catering, and youth ministry. Her impact on the academic community is profound, inspiring generations of students and educators alike.
On this special day, mrs Giftie Bassey Duke is honoring teachers who have remarkable dedication, leadership, and passion for education.
She lent her voice to encourage teachers to be steadfast in their profession keying more into research to improve their skills of Teaching.
